Times Like These

I have a new mantra for 2014.

Actually, it started a couple of months ago during a 'how, why, what, where and holy cow I can't do that, it's too much for me' moments.  My sister-in-law told me to breathe and "don't over think it".

I have spent my life over thinking it, usually in a 'not good enough' way.

But I am done with that I tell you!  2014 is my year of not overthinking it!
Don't ask me to think, I won't do it.

I might over think it a little bit, sometimes, I do have standards after all.
Baby steps people, baby steps.

PS Sweet little spots from my girls' room, I sneak in there sometimes while they are at school.  Obviously, so does Molly (the cat).

Flower Friday--I'm back

It's been like spring around here.

I am throwing this pretty pink shot of flowers out to all of my friends shivering in their snow boots, I hope it warms you up.  If I could trade places with you for a couple of weeks, I would.  

But then you would just complain about the traffic...;)

Throwback Thursday-Sick Day 2011

I don't know if this "Throwback Thursday" stuff is only meant for Instagram.....or even how back you are meant to throw.  When I take photos of my girls I sometimes grab the camera, take a few pics and then forget about them.  But when I come upon them later I am taken aback by the beauty of them-not the photos themselves, but the memory of the day.

This was the end of the school year and both girls were home sick (which rarely happens anymore) I think maybe I had to go and pick them up.  My girls look so little here, with their sweet little faces and short haircuts.  Audrey still has her cute little chubby cheeks and arms.  Piper was 8 and now, as of yesterday, she is 10.  That seems like such a huge jump, even though it's only two little years that flew by so fast.

There is something fun about sick days, well if you aren't too sick I mean.  It's a day off, to rest, watch TV,  do drawings, skip school, take casual nature walks, eat cereal with your little stuffed friends, and let your momma take care of you.  All day.

Flower Friday-just around the corner

The trees are blooming everywhere.  It's so gorgeous I can't stand it.  This weekend is supposed to be bright and warm and I have mixed feelings about that, I love the cold and the rain, but come on-I have to love the sun too right?!  So I do and I will.

Oh!  These trees are just around the corner from me and I see them everyday while out walking my doggie.  This morning I was in the middle of the street on a step ladder trying to get close enough to the blooms to get the shot.  I will have to drop off a print to the homeowner to thank him (her/they?).

Very strange week, very strange weekend--so far.
The good thing about strange is that it makes you take a closer look at things to find the beauty and the good and the integrity......and really, when you look, it is so easy to find.

The Girl's Got Mad Style

I have always said that my oldest girl has great style, since she was just a little one rockin' her princess nightgown and tiara with her black high tops and hoodies (much to her Grandma's chagrin--sorry mom).

I gathered up some of her favorite things to wear and a bit of heart inspiration from a photo contest and we put a little something together.

Check. Her. Out.

All Quiet Here

The girls are doing their first week of summer camp.  Today is only the second day all summer that I have been without them.  I have to say it has been glorious---both having a full day to myself and the fact that I get to spend the whole summer with them.

Just in case I might miss them too much I spent some time going through old photos.  As usual, I was looking for something specific but got distracted--imagine that--and found these sweet pics of Audrey running around in a new (hand-me-down) fairy dress.  I don't know if she would even put on a fairy dress right now, or if she would think she was "too old for that", boo hoo, my babies are growing up.

It's bittersweet.

Flower Friday--Summer Is Here

Summer is not officially here, but it's close.  

School's out and everything is starting to relax a bit. (even softball feels more relaxed)

It's June Gloom time and that's one of my favorite parts of LA weather.

There's a slight fog morning and night and the heat is really just kind of soft and fuzzy.

Setting us off guard for the July heat to kick in.
